revisiting

and with late autumn's chill i find you revisiting me again.  a love in december -- it's all i am ever familiar with.  as natural as goose-pimpled flesh after a biting breeze rakes over the nape of a naked neck.  my naked neck.  bricks and bottles, orange street lamps, everything echoes of you.  a drive through the rotary or over grace and you are everywhere.  what is this cruelty? i have waited and writhed, given up hope and returned to faith but for what? your name is frigid on my ears and scathing on my heart but i savor each ache and pain with which it comes.  shall i linger further? likely.  there is a tension and a fever tormenting every fiber but the elation, even if but an ounce, is savored. come to me in rain and earnest and sip over steaming cups and embrace me in the cold of december. embrace me in the cold of december.
